Laya Yoga teaches guided imagery that includes chakra meditation.
Chakras are the energy centers of the human body, symbolized by lotus flowers.
First chakra of Earth is red and located at the base of our spine. It is where the Big gray elephant lives and the mantra for this chakra is “Lang.”
Second chakra of Water is orange and located near our hip bones, below the navel. It is where the mysterious dolphin lives and the mantra for this chakra is “Vang.”
Third chakra of Fire is yellow and located just below our ribs. It is where the wild Ram lives and the mantra for this chakra is “Rang.”
Fourth chakra of Air is green and located at the center of our chest. It is where the loving Antelope lives and the mantra for this chakra is “Yang.”
Fifth chakra of the cosmos is light blue and located at our throat. It is where the white Elephant lives and the mantra for this chakra is “Hang.”
Sixth chakra of Intuition is purple and located between our eyebrows. It is where the beautiful peacock lives and the mantra for this chakra is “Chang.”
The Big gray Elephant with seven trunks is one of the symbols of the first chakra of the Earth. He symbolizes stability, wisdom and gives energy to start our spiritual path. With seven trunks, he can reach up to the seven chakras and whisper his valuable advice. He teaches us to be strong and grounded.
The Mysterious Dolphin is one of the symbols of the second chakra of Water. He sends inspiration for creativity and feels all our fears and doubts. He teaches us to be brave.
The Wild Ram is one of the symbols of the third chakra of Fire. He symbolizes our aggression and negative emotions, teaches us to calm down and observe our feelings.
The Loving Antelope is one of the symbols of the fourth chakra of Air. She personifies love, joy of living, and music. She teaches us to listen to our Hearts and trust it in all matters.
The White Elephant is one of the symbols of the fifth chakra of Cosmos. He embodies lightness and clarity in self-expression. He teaches us to implement creative ideas and to use our voice.
The beautiful Peacock is one of the symbols of the sixth chakra of intuition (third eye). He symbolizes the sixth sense, the very first and spontaneous sense of direction when making a decision. Through the Peacock, we learn to develop intuition and trust.
The wonderful Lotus Flower is one of the symbols of the seventh chakra, the crown of the head chakras. She personifies the relationship of man with the forces of nature. The letters of the ancient Sanskrit language are written on thousands of petals of the Lotus. Mantras (phrases of these letters) awaken the energy of the Kundalini snake.
The Kundalini serpent symbolizes our inner energy. Daily meditation classes (Laya Yoga) give the Kundalini serpent power to rise from the first chakra of the Earth higher and higher to the seventh Lotus chakra. She teaches us to learn to manage emotions, and to live in harmony and balance with ourselves.
